Funciones
Responsibilities:
Manage the safety and training programs for the Process Plant Metallurgical Group.
Lead the development of all required testing to support the process plant and water treatment circuits and predict the behaviour of the different metallurgical circuits under various scenarios. Recommend operating parameters to the Process Plant Technical Services Superintendent and the Operation Superintendents.
Be the liaison with internal and external metallurgical consultants to improve production performance, define alternative process flow sheets, improve current recovery and implement the best process practices in the industry
Lead the implementation of the metallurgical balance, Corporate Metal Accounting standards, OSI-PI and other operations support programs and interfaces.
Lead the elaboration and presentation of the End of Month Production Report with proper documentation and backups following the latest guidelines of the Barrick Corporate Metal Accounting Standard.
Lead the training and certification program for the Process Plant metallurgical group and supervise that at all the times the metallurgical testing procedures are updated and current.
Identify, hire, train and supervise the process metallurgical personnel, including metallurgical engineers and technicians.
Lead all activities related to metallurgy, reagents accounting and quality testing as required for the process plant.
Lead all activities related to operations data entry, metals and production accounting, KPI board and operations report.
Look for optimization opportunities and lead the implementation of projects to increase productivity, debottleneck production circuits, throughput, gold and silver and copper recovery, reduce operating costs and improve safety.
Implement changes to the business and process control systems to support the continuous improvement initiatives.
Coordinate the ore blending strategies in coordination with the Geology, Mine and Process Department to achieve production targets
Identify any gaps related to precious metal reconciliation with the Mine Department and define preventive and corrective actions if necessary.
Lead the necessary metallurgical test work to validate the gold and silver recovery models used for operation and reserve estimation.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering, Master’s degree is preferred.
8+ years of experience in a technical role in process plants with 5+ years of supervision experience. Pressure Oxidation experience is highly preferred.
Proven track record in developing and implementing safety and training programs.
Experience should demonstrate ability to safely and efficiently manage all activities in the process technical services of complex process plant.
Proficiency in the use of production, maintenance and engineering software systems.
Willing to travel as required.
Above average communication skills, able to speak, read, and write in English. Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.
