Full-time position under fixed-term contract until 31st December 2020 under the Cotonou Agreement.
Duties:
The EIB seeks to appoint an experienced candidate to assist in carrying out EIB operations within the Caribbean region who will work together with a small and committed team of international and national personnel. In general the individual will have the opportunity to make a varied, interesting and substantial contribution to the assessment and development of the EIB activity in the region.
Specifically s/he is expected to carry out the following duties:
• Analyse financial proposals with a view to developing business;
• Interface with project promoters in detailed examination of proposals;
• Analyse financial information,
• Monitor project implementation as necessary;
• Perform research;
• Where required, build relations with key external parties (e.g. investors, financial institutions, government representatives, local authorities, other institutions, etc);
• Represent the EIB at events, for example regular sector meetings.
Qualifications, experience and skills:
• University degree in Finance/Economics or a business related discipline;
• At least 3 years credit analysis, project finance, strategic consultancy or audit experience;
• Knowledge of accounting principles and of financial analysis
• Experience in evaluation of proposals to finance both infrastructure and productive sector investments;
• Knowledge of the standard IT office tools (Word, Excel, Power point)
• Knowledge of statistical and database query software and/or languages (SQL, business objects, etc.)
• Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English. Knowledge of other administrative languages spoken in the region (Spanish and French) would be an advantage
• Multi-country working experience would be desirable;
• Dynamic pro-active individual with excellent interpersonal and business skills;
• Capacity for rapid and clear analysis and reporting;
The position is open to nationals from ACP Caribbean country nationals with a valid SA work permit. Although mainly operating from Santo Domingo, the successful candidate should also be prepared to travel in the Caribbean region.
