Systems Administrator (Unix servers)

Has a solid command of shell scripting. Knowing at least two of C, Perl, PHP, and Python will also be helpful
Is very strong with MySQL and PostgreSQL and can performance tune both
Manages other services like HTTP, SSH, work queues, DNS, VCS, caching dæmons, etc.
Knows how to maintain third-party software packages from source, rather than relying on binaries
Administers UNIX-like operating systems, particularly Linux. Knowing *BSD and/or one or more of the Big Iron Unices will work in your favour
Hardens and penetration tests multiple servers, audits these systems daily, provides reports on vulnerable packages, and schedules mitigation of security risks
Works or has worked in a high availability environment with mission critical applications
Is familiar with Amazon Web services and understands how to bootstrap a system on it
Can multitask with minimal supervision
Is dependable, reliable, trustworthy, and responsible
Has great English and Spanish skills - speaking, writing, and reading
